Samsung Watch Redesign

This started as a brainstorm with a specific, almost provocative brief: take a watch selling for 20-25k rupees in India and figure out how to reposition it for buyers who'd happily spend three lakh. Out of everything we could touch, physical materials, textures, touchpoints, I chose the one thing every watch shares no matter its price: the face. Because if craftsmanship is really just visual trust, then the fastest way to change what a product means is to change what someone sees first.

[Problem]

Community-made Galaxy Watch faces are everywhere, but almost none of them feel legitimate. They're maximalist, shiny, trying too hard to be new, but they don't draw from anything we already recognize as quality. Meanwhile the Watch 4's own stock faces don't hold their own against even a mid-range mechanical watch. Craftsmanship was never really about seventeen jewels or a Swiss-made movement, it's about material, finish, and whether something looks like time was actually spent on it. That legitimacy was exactly what was missing.

[Solution]

I went straight to horology across every price tier, pulling cues from Rolex, Omega, Zodiac, Rado's Captain Cook, even Casio G-Shock, and asked what made each of those faces feel considered rather than decorative: dial texture, index style, where complications sit. Then I redesigned eight watchfaces inside One UI's constraints, each pulling a different one of those references but reworked to feel unmistakably Samsung, like the company's best designers built it specifically to earn a three-lakh price tag. Six to eight faces, two weeks, as much range as I could fit in that window.
